Accurate Safety Inspection
With our Accurate Safety Inspection, we look for safety hazards and look for possible moisture deteriorating your fireplace. Our chimney service technician will examine the readily accessible portions of the chimney exterior, interior and accessible portions of the appliance and the chimney connection. We will be looking for the basic soundness of the chimney structure and flue as well as the basic appliance installation and connections. We will also verify the chimney is free of obstruction and combustible deposits.

Chimney Flue Video Inspections
Accurate can provide a deeper inspection of your chimney by video scanning the internal surfaces and joints of all flue liners incorporated within the chimney. We will document the chimneys interior general condition or locate where defects may be hidden. The camera spot checks can provide verification that the chimney flue is free from soot, debris, creosote glaze, cracks, and shifted tiles and assures the chimney is in operational readiness to exhaust the gasses and soot properly. We highly recommend a Video Scan inspection when you are moving into a home where you are unsure of how the previous owners kept up with their repairs and then at least every other year with annual maintenance.

Crown Installation and Repair
The chimney crown is placed atop the masonry chimney as a form of protection against the weather. The deterioration of a chimney crown is most commonly due to water and constantly changing temperatures that can cause cracks. These get worse with the continuous freezing and thawing cycles during the course of the year in Central Ohio. The crown should provide a downward slope that will direct the water from the flue to the edge of the crown. Some chimney crowns are in such bad shape that they must be removed and completely rebuilt. However, if not allowed to deteriorate too far, most crowns can be repaired. We start by patching the cracks and deterioration with proper repair mortar or cement. We then cover the crown with a flexible waterproofing sealant that will protect it from water damage for many years to come. -
